The main novelties in the cabin are a fully touch-sensitive climate control system and a steering wheel with touch buttons - this set is gradually appearing on all European Volkswagen models. The new generation MIB3 multimedia system with 6.5 or 9.2-inch touchscreen now supports eSIM, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless interfaces, as well as voice control. Although it only applies to multimedia functions, while the new Golf can change some car settings with your voice.
New options include a 480-watt Harman/Kardon audio system and Travel Assist quasi-autopilot. It is capable of operating at speeds of up to 210km/h and is adaptive cruise control that can recognize signals, keep the car in its lane, and autonomously brake and accelerate after a complete stop.
The European range of turbodiesels has been slightly revised. Added a younger version of the 2.0 TDI engine with a power of only 122 hp. Option with a return of 150 hp. saved, the previous version was boosted from 190 to 200 hp, but the 240 hp biturbodiesel. fired - formally fits into the current economy, but still ruins the "average" emissions of the Volkswagen company. The petrol engines in Europe are the same: these are four turbo 1.5 TSI (130 or 150 HP) and 2.0 TSI (190 or 230 HP). The cars are equipped with a six-speed "mechanical" DSG or a seven-speed "robot".
The "hot" Volkswagen Tiguan R is equipped with a 2.0 TSI turbo four of the EA288 series, boosted to 320 HP. and 420 Nm. It has a seven-speed DSG robot and all-wheel drive and, in addition, an R-Performance Torque Vectoring electronic system that simulates the operation of an active rear differential, distributing traction between the rear wheels based on speed, lateral acceleration , degree of pressure on the accelerator pedal and other factors. Unfortunately, the dynamic characteristics of the Erka have not yet been made public.
The Tiguan R is distinguished from other modifications by other bumpers, larger air intakes, a large spoiler on the fifth door, a four-cylinder exhaust system and 21-inch wheels. Naturally, the top version has a retuned suspension and more powerful brakes, as well as the corresponding decor in the cabin. Large shift paddles appeared on the steering wheel. In Europe, the updated Tiguan will start shipping by the end of the summer, although the R version will have to wait until the end of the year. Subsequently, the extended Tiguan Allspace will undergo a similar modernization and a coupe version will also appear in the family. The locally produced Russian Tiguan will also be updated, but a little later and on a different schedule.
